Reciprocal Research Network

How it Works

RRN Logo

For community researchers, the RRN revolutionizes access to objects, images, and knowledge. For museum and individual researchers on Northwest Coast Heritage, the RRN provides access to community based knowledge. The reciprocal aspect of the network facilitates the exchange of existing and creation of new knowledge.

The RRN overcomes existing cross-cultural research barriers by providing an online research space that was developed with a specific awareness and sensitivity of indigenous rights to traditional knowledge, culturally diverse traditions of knowledge sharing, and protecting private and culturally sensitive knowledge.

Users begin with a research question, log on to the RRN and search for items. Items can be gathered in collections where there are opportunities for further collaboration, discussions and research. Users may also upload files and record stories that will be associated with specific items.
