ONE MILLION GRAINS OF LIGHT: TIBETAN MONKS CREATE SAND MANDALA @ MOA

MOA invites you to join the Tibetan monks of Dzongkar Choede in a 4-day journey, which will span two millenia, by constructing a two-dimensional celestial palace, grain by grain, for world peace. This event, “A Million Grains of Light: A Sand Mandala by the Tibetan Monks” will take place from 9:00am – 5:00 pm, Wednesday October, 24, Thursday, October 25, Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28. Watch as colored sand emerges from an ocean of wisdom, and take the shape of a Tibetan Sand Mandala in the Great Hall at MOA. We are located at 6393 NW Marine Drive in Vancouver, BC.

Immerse yourself in the 2,500 year old unbroken tradition of the Sand Mandala dating back to the time of the Buddha. partake in this intricate journey of wisdom and compassion that is measured by millions of grains of colored sand.The monks of Dzongkar Choede invite you to come and get to know them. Your visit and contributions go towards adding reliable solar energy for the very important night-time study, as well as supporting the children’s school and community medical clinic.

• October 24th- A Sand Mandala Emerges
• October 25th- The Journey continues…
• October 26th -*Mandala On Display Only*
• October 27th- Nearing completion…
• October 28th- Explanation then destruction of the mandala at 3:30pm

Daily explanations of the Buddha of Compassion Sand Mandala by Abbot Jampa Sopa at 1:30pm

All proceeds from donations and sales go towards supporting over 200 young monks, who depend on the monastery for a modern education, healthcare, a bright future as contributors to the world.
