The mount stream is developing and producing seismically mitigated object support and handling systems that will facilitate safe and efficient object
movement within the new research facility. Due to the combination of closed and publicly accessible storage areas within the Museum, the mounts must meet a certain
aesthetic criteria, as well as ensure each object's safety.

The majority of the objects in the collections will be mounted on handling trays which have been fitted
with a variety of supports, customized to the shape and needs of the individual object. A selection of objects is being mounted with specialized metal mounts which
will permit a more display-like installation while better accommodating the needs of the objects. The mounts developed for the mask collection for example, have
been designed so that eye and nostril holes remain clear so that the object may breathe. In addition, the mask mounts are very discreet and do not interfere with
the viewer's appreciation of the object or obstruct surfaces which a researcher may be interested in seeing.
