Collections Survey and Tracking

The Survey component of CREP is now completed.

A comprehensive survey and barcoding of the Museum's collections is well underway. Before objects are packed or moved to their new locations, each item is carefully examined, and descriptive information about the object is added to MOA's computerized inventory and management system (Mimsy XG). During the survey, each object is also entered into an Object Tracker Database and assigned a barcode tag which will help staff to track the object's location and processing status throughout the Renewal Project. As the object progresses through packing, mounting, and digitization stations, tracking information is recorded in the Object Tracker Database, which facilitates object retrieval as well as progress reporting.

A surveyor scans an object's barcode to retrieve information about that object.
